Our Clients: Keystone Entertainment
Based in Vancouver, Keystone Entertainment makes family-oriented movies - Air Bud 5 and MVP 3 are two recent examples. Keystone operates its own post-production facility in Vancouver. Post-production is a critical component of movie making - it's where sound and picture are integrated into the final product. During the making of a film, it's necessary to keep track of hundreds of audio and video elements. Tracking these pieces is critical. And thats where we come into the picture.
When we got the call from Keystone in the Spring of 2001, they had outgrown their existing database - it simply couldn't keep pace with the needs of today's movie makers.
Post-production supervisor Scott Watson: "We knew we needed a customized element tracking database; however we didn't know who could build it for us. It was Filemaker Inc. who recommended Oak Bay Softrends. It was definitely the right decision.
"We had a pretty clear idea of what we wanted the software to do. And we knew it would be a complex project. Our challenge was to help Oak Bay Softrends understand our needs so they could reflect them in the software. They spent a lot of time at our facility, and it was a collaborative process - we were partners in the sofware writing process. As a result, we now have a database that we can customize ourselves as we see fit.
"They actually gave us more than we had expected. They recognized the importance of protecting the integrity of our data by keeping data files clean. They showed us how to store and organize these files so that we get the best return on our investment."
